Snowballs: Mexican Wedding Cookies Recipe

Mexican Wedding Cookies: a sugary, buttery, heavenly cookie with a hint of nuttiness, just like my family.

My brother and I always look forward to the holiday's when our Abuelita makes Mexican Wedding Cookies, especially around Christmas when we get into snowball cookie fights.

Watch my video or read the instructions below to learn how to make them. They're really easy, you only need 5 simple ingredients!

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup creamed butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

2/3 cup powdered sugar

Step 1:

Cream one stick of room temperature the butter by beating it by hand or with a mixer until it is creamy.

Step 2: Add the vanilla, 1/3 cup of powdered sugar and mix until it’s nice and fluffy. Then on a lower speed add the flour and nuts.

Step 3: Roll the dough into about 1 inch balls and lay them on a naked cookie sheet.

Step 4: Pop them into a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes, without browning them. Once they’re done, let them chill for 5 minutes.

Step 5: Place the 2/3 cup of powdered sugar into a bowl and roll the cookies with a nice sugary coat. If you’d like to dust them with a little extra magic, sift a touch of pearlescent food glitter. So yummy!

These quick and easy cookies are the perfect last minute gift or addition to a dinner party especially around holidays like Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Birthdays, Bridal Showers or Baby Showers.

I hope you enjoy this family recipe as much as we do!
